Knew Maria Ozawa left the name Miyabi みやび behind in 2005. Knew Kominato Yotsuha (小湊よつ葉) had been Inoue Rikako (井上理香子).

But if Kominato Yotsuha (小湊よつ葉) was referred to as “Iwata Orin” – I’d hope a number of people would, indeed give at least the smallest of fucks.

And what if Amagami Ui was, say, referred to as Tenjin Hagoromo?

There are apparently people who take an interest in how to read, pronounce, Romanize, even speak and understand Nihongo.

You certainly didn’t concern yourself with whether her name (for English speakers) should be read and pronounced “Seo Rin” (And only read and pronounced “Seo Rin”)

And you certainly didn’t concern yourself with where the “Iwata Orin” thang came from.

One can see the “Iwata Orin” thang visiting JAVLibrary. So this site is not unique in the world for using that “Iwata Orin” . . . whatever it is.

I don’t want to call it a Romanization or a spelling or a reading or a translation or an error or a real name or. . . . don’t want to call it anything misleading. (And with helpfulness like yours, I feel no closer to understanding what it is or why the site uses it.)

But at least you didn’t use the frequently used troll word “entitled.”

I can understand why a person might call Komintao Yotsuha by the name Rikako Inoue. Or why a person might call Rio by her prior performing name Tina Yuzuki . . . etc

I can’t explain why the discrepancy in the hyperlink vs title but I can likely explain where Iwata Orin is coming from. This isn’t an issue with romanization as much as it’s an issue of parsing the grouping of the kanji characters that make up her name and then determining the specific reading of those characters.

Parsing:
瀬緒凛 could be grouped in either of these two ways. (瀬)緒凛 or (瀬緒)凛 where the portion in parentheses is the family name.

Reading:
瀬 – se or iwata
緒 – o
凛 – rin

So if you assume only the first kanji is her family name then Iwata is a common surname. However, if her family name is 2 kanji then Seo becomes possible. Note how the ‘o’ in Seo -> ‘O’ in Orin.

Having said that, she introduces herself as Seo Rin 58 seconds into ABF-309.
