Saw someone’s comment today (the comment bruh) about “a long O sound” not short. That comment explained that 伊藤 is also romanized as Itoh, Itō, Itoo, and some times, incorrectly, Ito
I’m not sure at all how I would “correctly” Romanize 伊藤 if I were emperor, or the decision maker for the Japanese Foreign Ministry
But I went to a pronunciation site, that pronounced the first syllable so softly and quickly that I thought I was hearing a one-syllable name. Roughly Tow.
Like Tow Truck.
An American used to the OJ Simpson trial’s references to Judge Lance Ito might expect to hear two syllables. Like we did on TV during the trial. E-Tow
Nope
But it makes me wonder why 伊藤 isn’t Romaized (e)Tow . . . or (e)Toohhh
Tow, Tow, Tow your boat would apparently be close to the correct pronunciation.
I think the Romanization of the name using “Itou” makes an American want to mispronounce the name like E Two. Like you and you and you.
Not good
Too close to “Et tu, Brute?”
Justu don’tu liku thatu “u”

Happy Anniversary. To a “Perfectu Womanu” – Ito Mayuki
(No U in Ito)
Wonder why the site doesn’t spellu the names of the idols in the wayu that their name is spelled on their covers.
Ito Mayuki is on her covers.
(No U in Ito)
And the site spelled her name Ito for her debut and her second movies.
Then added a “U” to its occasional spellings of her performing name. (And hyperlink)
All this for:
A Perfect Woman. The way it’s spelled on the cover.
Double spaced pompousity … check.
Self-entitlement … check.
OCD triggered … check.
Bloviating with little-to-no self-restraint or self-awareness …. check.
Mikey’s in the house … check.
And another thing
