FWIW, I haven’t picked up The Republic since I was in college, and didn’t like it then. But I’d had no memory at all of the “Ring of Gyges.” Perhaps my Poli Sci teacher skipped that part/book in assigning my class reading all those years ago. I do remember strange things in the book that the teacher didn’t assign. Like what music and rhythm an army should march to.
