Are the dmm rankings based on sales? Because if they are based only on sales, exclusive actresses are disadvantaged due to the lower number of releases.
Instead, if they consider the general popularity Mikami Yua would be among the first 5.
To answer the question about why S1 released she, I think that at the time the sales were not good (also because they didn’t know how to value her), while Moodyz was able to find the right key to success.
I guess almost certainly that’s the method. Because:
1. They don’t have any other metrics to compare(?).
2. they listed how many movies total each actress has.
3. All the higher positions are populated by actresses with many hundreds of movies. And while they are important actresses and the backbones of they JAV industry (Hatano, Mari Rika, Shinoda) but they have not been that “hot” for quite a few years.

And in this DVD ranking, Shouko is the number 1 and Yua is number 4, sandwiching Julia and Saeko Matsushita, which does seem very legit. Since I don’t know moon, can you help explain what is the different between two rankings?
It seems the link I posted refers to all digital works. And that ranking above refers to DVD sales excluding other stuff…

I was surprised with the digital ranking when Shouko wasn’t there but I have to admit that I was equally surprised that she tops the DVD ranking. Despite all the complain about her being too vanilla, she still manages to beat them all. What a powerhouse. But does that mean Shouko’s titles are only released on DVD, which I think is very unlikely. Or maybe she has some hardcore fans who buy tons of her videos just to support her the way Japanese fans supports their mainstream idols. Who knows? Interesting statistics indeed.
And Airi Suzumura is so consistent. That puts a smile on my face. lol.
