Momonogi Kana is/was the link between Ideapocket’s “great generation” and modern IP. She matters a lot to me. A few years after her debut, I thought that IP had in her, Sakura Momo, Kaede Karen, Aizawa Minami, in any order (and later, Kami Anna) a roster that easily competed with S1’s, overly dependent on Mikami Yua, as great as she once was even though her very mediocre last few years made everybody forget it. I agree Momo is no dramatic actress (FYI she’s more interested in singing). And absolutely subscribe that Anna was miles ahead on that regard. That said, and besides my subjective assessment (if you ask me, there were alternating periods where each of the top 4 held the crown; Aizawa Minami didn’t ride the DMM Award wave as long as she could have; Karen shone brighter than anybody else for a while; Momo faced a slump where her movies were not that exciting and felt repetitive), the raw numbers show Momo quickly became Ideapocket’s most reliable top girl long basically since her debut, in no small part because Karen, Minami (Anna) had multiple hiatuses, changed studios or retired early: 2018 Best newcomer DMM Award DMM BD/DVD sales… Read more »
