Among the things I find fascinating – why the translation program recognizes and produces “Los Angeles” for the full phrase, but won’t produce “Los Angeles” for just the characters “ロス” (Rosu)

Then there’s the whole L / R thing. That led so many to call Kudou Rara 工藤ララ “Lala” – and even led translation programs to produce“Lala”

I’ve been in lots of typed discussions here about the translations of the movie titles, how they are, or are not, accurately done. And how the people who work in the industries that create / update these programs go about their work

Here, Google Translate doesn’t have “ロス” set up to mean Los Angeles (palabras de español) or Los (también una palabra española), not the way I tried to use it, by deleting words around the word I wished to focus on.

Instead, it translated “ロス” to mean “loss”. And in español, “ロス” produces “pérdida” . . .

Seems to me that that could be a subject for a very interesting discussion
