Looked up incel after your post. (I respond to discussions of etymology as predictably as I do to Nagae Style vids.) Wikipedia notes that the main character of Whatever, a 1994 novel by French author Michel Houellebecq has been labeled by Adam Kirsch of The New York Times as a “proto-incel” with the novel as a whole being retrospectively evaluated as predictive of the modern incel movement. Hadn’t know there had been a movement. (Older generation – did my formative reading in the 80s.)
