This is true, I have done social studies in Japan as part of my long seminar work and one of the things I was told and have read while researching and getting consultations from my superiors that the “dating” stuff is indeed true. Not made up nor exaggerated. It’s often reflected in dramas, animes, literature, games and other kinds of media.

It was also shown on the movie “All About Lily Chou-Chou” where blackmailed students (often by their fellow classmates as well) are pimped to customers often salarymen. It’s a brilliant Movie, although papakatsu wasnt the core part of the film, its still a painful part of the reality that some of the youth in Japan experience
