Pisuto = Piston or Pistol? If the title had said Pisutoru, then it is clearly pistol (because l becomes ru per custom for foreign loan words e.g. Beetoru for Beatle). For piston, it has to be pisuton. By leaving out the last character (which could have been a ru ル or a n ン, they leave us with a delicious new pun. Both objects (piston and pistol) serve AV well.

Full disclosure: I did not use my eyes to get the original title from the cover image. I grabbed it from another site, which could have erroneously left out the last character. But never mind. The ambiguity is good fun.

My uneducated guess: even the therapist word is a loan word from English. I would not be so assertive from just one reference.

I was surprised at what Google Translated did to the full title of this movie. Meaning, surprised that neither Piston or Pistol came out of the computer process

From the sites that have the original language, I got this fairly complete title

Google translate got really odd with the word ピスト alone.

Google translate claimed that ピスト Pisuto means Fixed-gear bike

And when I looked up the meaning further, AI kind of agreed.

It explained that besides the AV use meaning therapist or professional, that depending on the context, it can also carry other meanings:

In keirin or competitive cycling, it refers to young, handsome athletes competing in “PIST6,” a track cycling event in Chiba;

In street culture, it describes a stylish man who rides a “pisto bike” (a fixed-gear bicycle)

(I thought that was two ways of saying one thing. But – Believe there’s a lot I don’t know about the language. . .)

Even if I just learned that pisto is short for therapisto, I’ll still always say San Francisco. Never Frisco.

Amen to San Francisco. Frisco is a city in Texas. But the bike discussion is diverging. I wouldn’t make hard conclusions from just Google or AI (which actually do a good job of imagining things – just like Naturally Intelligent humans would). Ultimately, the source reference is what matters.

I looked thru the previous 18 movies with identical titles that the site posted that share the JJEE code

This is the first time the site ever went with “Handsome piston’s . .”

Previously, the title translations were

Handsome piston masseur

Handsome masseur

Handsome stud

Handsome therapist

handsome pistols

Handsome gigolo’s

handsome pest

Handsome Pist

Tough to translate. English speakers don’t call their therapist a pist. They don’t call their country a . . . tree. . .

I’ve said before that I consider JAV titles to be “created by juveniles for the benefit of infantiles”. I only got interested because of the ambiguity caused by the missing final letter. The other reason why I would be wary of translation apps is that they are trained to overwork (i.e. make assumptions). My interests are usually literal (even though they yield incorrect contextual translations) and for that, one has to learn the language formally and not rely on apps.
