Alas, the troll isn’t being treated like air by the site. The troll’s name-steals are being approved and posted. I’d say the site treats the troll like royalty for all to see, and that other people notice.
Four years ago, I saw the first trolling target trying the “don’t feed the trolls” approach, then after, say, four incessant months of name stealing that was not going away, the target would comment again.
Nothing worked. This site loves posting troll posts, and the troll is flourishing typing up comments that are so noticeable.
Not noticeable to me. The quality of writing reveals who the poster is and regardless of what this site does, I do my thing and treat them appropriately (“like air” sometimes).

The LBV protagonist had a good reason to remain silent and hitherto not covered in this discussion (as it is unrelated to the trolling phenomenon). It is just unfortunate that the “man who ran looked a lot like me”. For his sacrifice, the saved one “cries over his bones when the cold wind moans” (I am typing all this from memory, so the exact words may be incorrect) even though she “shed not a tear” at the trial. The version that is familiar to me is the one sung by Rick Danko and I shiver every time I hear it (40 years+ now). I am partial to what I call “dead man songs” where the protagonist who sings is long dead. The Irish song “Hot Asphalt” is another favorite.

I learned the version on “The Band” before I learned the original. And loved it. But then, loved the original when I finally heard it.

FWIW, Richard Manuel was my favorite member of the Band, and his singing on Whispering Pines from that same album that had the cover of Long Black Veil – that is my favorite Band song. As was his “I Shall Be Released” singing from the prior album. (My (two) favorites)
