Can the site change her name spelling to Niina? With two iis?
The site’s troll took to a new way to bypass the name filter. Using a macron over the i it typed to type “Mīke”
And I looked that up. Learned that a macron (¯) ( pronounced MAY-kron) is a placed over a vowel to indicate a long vowel.
Read that, as to Japanese Romaji, in Hepburn romanization, it represents a double “i” (ii), as in “shītake”.
Read that one should pronounce it like the “ee” in the English word “meet” but hold the sound for twice as long.
And that it’s important. Examples
Kite (きて): “Come!” (short “i”)
Kiite (きいて): “Listen!” (long “ii”)
And read shortening the long vowel in ojiisan (grandfather) turns the word into ojisan (uncle).
The site has used the double iis that idols names use before. For instance
