In the site’s defense, I don’t understand a syllable of Japanese, and use Google translate to try to understand it. And it seems the site uses a translation program too. Perhaps to save time. And avoid taking all that time it takes to actually look for a romanized name on a cover – or – perish the thought – in opening of closing credits. . .
To see what pure, quick, time saving relying solely on technology would produce, I put 南波明花 into Google translate.
Got “Meika Nanba”
The 南波 was Romanized “Nanba” but translated to Namba.
The 明花 came out Romanized Akika but translated Meika
(Google Translate clearly doesn’t refer to the cover or the credits one sees while watching the movie)
So. Why doesn’t the site refer to the movie covers or the credits one sees while watching the movie to arrive at a “correct” official Romanized spelling of an idols name?
Is it on purpose? Just to save time? Is there no choice, because there is NOT enough time in the day for the poople who do the work to run the site to look at any of the movie covers, or press play to read the spellings in the credits?
Is it to show total disdain for the spelling of idols names? Is it to show that the site is run by incompetents? By inconsistent, unpredictable sociopaths?Psychotics? Is it to show the site is run by people who are too busy with matters of consequence to care about spelling an idol’s name?
Is it so the site can type up some troll replies to people who point out the misspellings? Call them entitled?
