Yankee (Yankī, ヤンキー) I’ve read, means “bad boy or girl” or delinquent youth.

Wonder if there are differences one should understand between Yankee and DQN.

And then ex-yankee? Old enough to be a homeowner I guess . . .

I always assumed that Yankee meant they were trying to pass the girl off as having grown up in America lmao

The two terms are somewhat related. DQN is the general term for a loutish or delinquent youth, while a Yankī is a type of DQN associated with motorcycle gangs and similar. Stereotypically, Yankī also commonly have hair that’s died blonde.
