I doubt that that earlier movie,

should be considered a predecessor or this, or somehow in the same series as this.
The costumes are different, with the “attacker” wearing a full black head cover/mask.
And there’s no thick padding on the floor for safe comfortable wrestling (etc). Instead, the predecessor had thin matting on the floor. Maybe bamboo?
But that predecessor has an amazingly wonderful reason for watching
