This was pretty poorly illuminated on purpose and it doesn’t work. Almost certainly the director did overthink too much here. To his favor will say that is not so easy to pull this off, one studio that uses dim lights properly that comes to mind is Tameike Goro.
Also pretty ironic they used good illumination for the cover, and literally none for the video…

I just loved this. And didn’t mind the dim lighting in the night scenes. Shinoda Yuu is gorgeous at any light level.

Agree with Bakayaro. This video not done very well. And it goes beyond the lighting.
Screenplay is poorly done. The story doesn’t flow well at all if you watch it with subtitles. No tension developed with the reluctant wife. MEYD-778 is a far better movie and the story problems were fixed. Don’t waste your time with this one.
Some of the others in the series may be better (I also think they are – so agree with you there) but I wouldn’t call this one a waste of time.
Real romance occuring so often with the lights down low, I wasn’t bothered by a candlelight level “romantic reality” at all. And I thought Shinoda Yuu was wonderfully watchable, as always.
[MEYD-778] is my favorite in the series, especially because of lovely Misaki Sakura, so I can’t call you wrong to prefer it. And loved the fourth one with Minami Mayu as the shy wife.
But I didn’t see any real story changes. I thought the story has been pretty faithfully followed in the series’ four movies so far. . .
