So, reading along with a subtitled version of the movie..
The husband Naoki asks his wife to come to the hospital with him to visit the writer Takagi, knowing that the writer likes ladies, and wanting to get the writer to commit to writing more for Naoki’s business. He brings edits from the editors. She brings flowers. The writer asks them Both to visit again, as in “Bring your wife when you visit again
At home Naoki thanks his wife Aiko. for having come with him to the hospital visit.
They visit again.
After second visit, at home husband and wife talk at dinner. The husband admits that Takagi’s novel that they are editing isn’t very good. Women don’t like it, so it won’t be profitable to publish. And the writer is so proud that he won’t do a rewrite. Aiko reassures her husband, says they should go back to the hospital, visit the writer again, everything will be fine.
During the next visit, the couple promise they will clean the author’s laundry. Then the talk turns to business. The author is furious, insists he writes for men, not women.
Naoki begs Takagi to help make the book different, potentially profitable, by doing a rewrite.
The writer resentfully agrees, but only on the condition that his lack of a woman beside him be remedied.
