DMM Awards 2018 preview and predictions
The ceremony will happen May 19 in Tokyo, entrance will cost 2500 yen, and there will be an Ebisu Muscats actuation. I believe tickets are still available if someone is present in Tokyo and wants to attend.
2017 winners Yua Mikami and Asuka Kirara will present the event. Rio and Yamada Hisashi (A radio DJ, voice actor), will help on hosting side too.

Predictions
Supposedly the voting system is the online-vote, and I don’t trust it much. It always gave me the feeling to be just marketing. But, well, if we believe the system, it might end up being a mere popularity contest. If that’s the case, the only 2 girls with chances this year are Takasho and Shiina Sora.
However, I think Takahashi Shoko has the most solid chance to win. For a few reasons:
- Currently, the most popular girl of the bunch.
- Her popularity is high and increasing, plus she sells DVD’s really well.
- She won last year best rookie award.
- She is pretty, hot, and works hard.
- Her successful switch from Gravure to JAV, is a feel-good story.
- Inverted nipples.
I really don’t see anyone else challenging her win this year. Arina is crazy beautiful, but I don’t think she could match Shoko on the acting side. Or maybe Sonoda Mion could be up to the task and have some chances. If they decide to reward a long career, Jessica Kizaki has some decent chances, or maybe she could win the special prize, and retire soon afterward, which would explain her nomination. But anyhow, I think anyone winning but Shoko would be an upset. Kinda…
Some other nominees I really don’t understand why are they even nominated to begin with. Like the Jessica Kizaki nomination seems a bit forced. Makoto Toda…what?…Kiritani Matsuri… she has barely has done anything in her career. And Mari Rika…wtf.
On the rookie’s side, a prediction is much harder. I think either:
- Sakura Moko. Very high chance to win.
- Sakura Momo. I would not miss IPX-134, great stuff.
- Yoshitaka Nene. Very high chances also.
- Kawana Minori. Really good acting skills for a newcomer. And great potential.

Other than that, I expect a really cheesy and corny ceremony. With crying, jokes and ridiculous-looking dresses, risky on the elegant side. The Oscars for Japanese pornstars no less. So many feelings…

Who comes up with the list? Where’s Amatsuka Moe? If only they awarded due to looks… would only fap to Takasho, Shiina and Arina from that list.

They claim they are done based on JAV sales ranking and search ranking figures from 2017.
If that’s true, I’m very surprised Kashii Ria is not there.
Compared to last year which had very sure winners, this year seems a more open battle: In the Best Actress run-up it’s very much contested between Shiina and Shoko although Jessica Kizaki as a laughing third would’t suprise me either (and deep down I kinda wish for her to win, super underrated and excellent actrees).
The rookies are even harder to guess: Yoshitaka Nene has the momentum right now but given that she already sweeped the AV Grandprix, it would be a bit more fair if the award would go to Kawana Minori or Sakura Moko.
Either way, we’ll see the results on next Friday.
At the DMM Adult Awards there will be the first public meeting between Ebisu Muscats and Asuka Kirara after the leader left the group. In the last concert of the Muscats (2 days ago) the girls have thanked her publicly for what she did in the two and a half years in which she is committed to the success of the group. Some girls have even cried. So far she’s the only former member who is still being named, very likely because she has been the leader since the beginning of the second generation. Thank you guys, awesome comments and point of view as always. I think you guys are right by logic, but the popularity of the girls will carry more weight than any other subjective things in this voting, and I think is fair.
i’d like to believe Abeko will win but then i remember she hasnt released any movie lately
When does the nomination for the award usually begins? I have never been into this award until I met Nao Jinguuji this year. I’ve been longing for her to be nominated in any category since then because I think she deserves one, Newcomer category perhaps? I’ve been buying her stuffs since last month and I must say that her ranking from last month seems promising (#7 DVD and #56 Digital), I would like to see Kikatan actresses like her and Mitani Akari make it to the nomination phase at least 🙂
