専属 “exclusive” actresses only shoot porn with a single (or a few) studio(s), unlike キカタン女優 ”kikatan actresses” (where キカタン stands for 企画単体 “kikaku tantai” = solo project) who shoot for several studios. Image videos, calendars, photobooks are not subject to these exclusivity contracts. senzoku = studio’s billboard girl, only one or a couple porn videos a month (there was a super exceptional case of one actress having 4 or more such contracts at once, but I don’t remember the details off the top of my head), usually stars alone in her movies. I think they mostly reserve the “DIVA” label (MIDE a MIDV codes) for exclusive actresses, but I’m not sure they 100% enforce that.

Some actresses debut as exclusive right away. This means they were deemed promising enough for a studio to offer a typically 6 month contract.
Many start as kikatan, and become exclusive later in their career, when they have a large following and prefer to take it a bit easier, with less shooting and physical burden.
Some switch multiple times.
Tsubomi was a S1 exclusive for 6 months in her debut, then a kikatan for 7 years, then Moodyz x WANZ exclusive for 9 years.
Mitani Akari was a kikatan for years before becoming a Honnaka x DASU! exclusive.
Satomi Yuria debuted under another name, came back after surgery as a Bi exclusive, then was a Moodyz exclusive, then a Premium exclusive, then an Ideapocket exclusive, followed by Prestige, then Madonna and later Wanz Factory. with some kikatan intervals in between.. and I’m probably forgetting some of her transfers
