It seems there’s the almost pure stream of new releases lately, without the prior mix of older posts also filling in quality handpicked older movies. I think Feb 22 was last day any User Submits were posted. Definitely the last day that any old movies I’d put into the User Submission boxes were posted. Since then, unless I missed them, the only posts of older movies seemed to be three Girl of the Month movies starring Aika posted on March 3d, some Mitani Akari movies perhaps left over from her time as February Girl of the Month ([GHKP-58] Wonder Stella) and the , English subbed JAV posts. The market is very competitive, JAV and elsewhere. Cost-cutting measures as unavoidable. I was running the numbers and realized how much can be saved by using physical servers (owned or rented) as opposed to cloud. It is astonishing, a 10x factor there for the grabs.
I didn’t follow that. Are you saying there would be a financial difference in having the site post only new releases versus the site also posting older movies?
Posting old movies is much more time-intensive (harder to locate good quality rips) and brings fewer clicks per unit of human capital (economics of long-tail distributions). So I can’t promise it’ll be kept. We’ve already optimized some technological costs (for instance with Cloudflare), but ultimately labor itself needs to be optimized in this highly competitive field.

Makes me wonder how many people labor to keep the site going, how many average hours a day it usually requires, how much more time to smell the roses would be created if the site never resumed posting the older movies. (Thought I’d note – a lot of the competing sites mix older movies in with the newer ones. Not that they also post the release dates. Many don’t.) But there are other aspects of this site that may also be time-intensive. The actor tags, the series hyperlinks, the release date and director info. They are actually a huge part of why I come to this site instead of the sites that usually post the new release JAV movies a day or two earlier. And the comment section.
