That’s interesting. Occam’s razor being a principle of theory construction or evaluation. Simpler theories are preferable to more complex ones because they tend to be more testable. Roughly.. .

I know that there have been other people posting as Mike on this site, some years before I first came to the site. I know that there have been a lot of troll posts recently that used the name Mike (and that I didn’t post) and even some posts by a “Mike” in Indonesian, or differemt Mikes in English (also not me). For me, trolling by othes with my User Name isn’t theory. I can remember what was or wasn’t my post.

But trying to figure out whether the same commenter Nyangleh who posted rationally in 2021, in short posts that never fantasized, occasionally corrected English grammar errors, and as a theme, tried to combat trolling, could be by the same person who incessantly trolled here EVERY DAY since perhaps April or May 2022 – That’s a challenge.

I clicked thru some old posts (See for example Man from 2021) that explain that “Nyangleh was and is a commenter here who got trolled or spoofed incessantly in later 2022, beginning slowly about December 21 2021, in Indonesian, and then increasingly in early 2022, in English. Nyangleh used to comment here occasionally in 2021, never trolled then (at least not with that User Name) and seemed to try to make people ethnically tolerant. He often corrected bad grammar, objected to ridiculous google translate errors in posts, but focused usually on the videos, idols, pertinent things.” I just don’t see how or why the rational, infrequent commenter from 2021 would be the same person (or people) who always troll like lunatics recently.

But then, unless George R.R. Martin ever finishes his books, the world is left with Daenerys Targaryen really did do so many stupid things then go mad.

Is a total personality change really the simpler theory? Is Nyangleh‘s prolonged period of unremarkable posts that had no trolling, preceding the recent sustained incessant trolling really the simpler theory? The one to pick using Occam’s razor?
