Japan is a relatively good place to be an adult artist. There is undoubtedly a dark underbelly to the industry and some pretty messed up stuff going on behind the scenes. But most of the top tier contract girls make good money for just one release per month.
And that’s like perhaps 5% of the models (‘top tier’ on contract) . For the rest, they have to piece together their own ‘career’ as ‘freelancers’ (hookers at large, really)… with very very little certainty. It’s not a good way to make a living, it’s self destructive.
