So the story is (as far as I can tell); Wife starts the movie requesting a divorce. As she leaves, she makes it clear that it’s over, but she does say “thank you”, in acknowledgement that the marriage didn’t work out, and it’s one of those things. Hubby finds the diary and sees that she’s written in it about an affair with one of his acquaintances. He then gets transported through time, from July to April, to the scene that he just read about. When he sees his wife and the guy passed out having just been pounding, he drops the diary in shock and then is transported back to present day. In the past, the acquaintance picks up the diary (and presumably will work out for himself what it does). Back in present day, nothing has changed, and the divorce papers are still on the table waiting to be signed.
