There’s a lot of hype around FALENO, but so far they don’t seem to have anything new to offer in their movies IMO. Just big signings. It’s like S1’s early days. But S1’s lineup was stronger, it had the biggest names in the industry at the time (Aida Yua, Aoi Sora, Honoka, Asami Yuma, Yoshizawa Akiho, Rio, Mihiro…). FALENO has managed to gather a bunch of surgically enhanced girls, a couple S-level names who are past their peak (Hashimoto Arina, Amatsuka Moe), and several well-known veterans who are not that strong sales-wise. What S1 did to KUKI, Max-A and Alice Japan would be akin to FALENO poaching Sakura Momo & Momonogi Kana from Ideapocket, Sakura Mana from SOD and Mikami Yua from S1.
You know every big names including the ones you mentioned debuted as nobody, right? These debuting girls are nobody too right now, but there is always a chance that some (not all) can turn into JAV legend someday.
Remember how Tsubomi debuted with S1 in 2006, just one among many S1 new debuts back then. I bet nobody at that time can predict how big she become.
I’m commenting on FALENO’s signings from other studios, more than about their newcomers. As you said, nobody knows how the latter will develop. Just saying that, although FALENO got some big names, the impact is not as strong as S1’s early signings (stolen from the dominating studios of the time) were.
Historically, S1 has been stronger at stealing girls from other studios than at developing new ones. Aida Yua, Aoi Sora, Acky, Rio and Mihiro were already huge names by the time S1 poached them (coming from KUKI, Alice Japan, and Max-A), and probably even more popular at the time than Hashimoto & Amatsuka nowadays. Most importantly, S1 signed them fairly early when their career was still going up.
I actually disagree with you a bit, I think for a new label Faleno is doing very well for themselves. Their girls whether its the new or the imported are regularly having top spots at the highest selling charts, and they seem to care about the nuturing of their own talent (Yume Nikaido, Natsu Tojo or Suzume Mino all seem to have promising future). From the big trio only I would only use the “past their peak” to Amatsuka Moe because Arina still soars and Yoshitaka Nene seems to be more popular and high-selling then she ever was during her S1 days. The reason why Faleno’s appearance isn’t as big as S1’s was obvious to me: The industry itself is not the same as it was back in the early 2000’s, its much more tighter, more centralized and I’m not surprised that S1 or IdeaPocket would rather have Faleno take their second-third-fourth biggest name and do everything to keep their biggest draw (thus the reason you will never see Yua or Momonogi Kana at Faleno, plus I don’t think they would benefit too much from poaching Sakura Mana because I genuinely feel that she’s at the endstages of her AV… Read more »
